MemClick ("we," "us," or "our") operates the MemClick app and website (the "Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

A. Phone Number (Required for Authentication)

When you create an account, we collect your phone number to send you a one-time password (OTP) for account verification and sign-in. Your phone number is stored in our authentication system (Supabase) and is necessary to access the Service.

B. Family and Student Information (Optional)

To provide personalized learning, we may collect:

• Student names and grade levels
• School name and district (for curriculum alignment)
• Subject preferences and learning history
• Parent/guardian name and contact information

C. Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including:

• Study sessions and card review activity
• Learning progress and performance metrics
• Device type, OS, and app version
• Timestamps and session duration

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Authenticate your identity and secure your account
• Deliver personalized learning experiences and curriculum
• Generate study cards and spaced repetition schedules
• Provide progress analytics to parents
• Improve the Service and fix bugs
• Comply with legal obligations
• Prevent fraud and abuse

4. SMS Authentication and Twilio

We use Twilio, Inc. to send authentication SMS messages to your phone number. When you sign in:

• Your phone number is transmitted to Twilio to send the OTP code
• Twilio is a third-party service provider and is bound by confidentiality obligations
• Standard SMS rates apply (charges depend on your carrier; not charged by MemClick)
• You consent to receive these SMS messages when you submit your phone number

5. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

MemClick is designed for students entering Grade 5 through Grade 12, including rising 5th graders using Grade 4 foundation content as part of summer bridge or transition preparation. Students typically range from ages 9–17. Because this audience may include students under 13, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

A. Parental Involvement and Account Ownership

A parent, guardian, teacher, or other authorized adult must create the account and provide their phone number for authentication. That adult controls all access to student learning data and analytics.

MemClick is an educational service. Children do not create purchases. Account ownership and subscription management are performed by a parent, guardian, teacher, or other authorized adult.

B. Student Data

Students do not create accounts independently. All student data is accessed and managed by the parent/guardian. We do not use student information for marketing or third-party advertising.

C. Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, in two ways:

• In the app: open Account → Delete account and confirm with a one-time code. This permanently removes the entire family account, every learner profile, all study history and progress, all paired devices, the account-owner record, and the authentication record.
• By request: email us at legal@memclick.com or privacy@memclick.com.

Deletion takes effect immediately upon confirmation. After deletion, we retain only the minimal records required by law (see Section 8).

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only when:

• Required by law or court order
• Necessary to prevent fraud or protect safety
• With your explicit written consent
• With service providers (like Supabase for authentication) under confidentiality agreements

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information, including:

• Encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication via Supabase (industry-standard)
• Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
• Limited access to personal data (staff need-to-know basis)

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as long as necessary to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and data at any time. After deletion, we retain only minimal information required by law (transaction history for 7 years for tax purposes).

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your data
• Correction: Correct inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
• Opt-out: Stop receiving SMS messages (reply STOP to any SMS)
• Data Portability: Request your data in a portable format

10. Product Analytics

We may use a privacy-focused product-analytics service to understand how the Service is used in aggregate (for example, how many study sessions are started or completed). This analytics layer is disabled by default and, when enabled, collects only non-identifying event metadata.

Analytics events never include student or parent names, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, addresses, other directly identifying details, or the text of study questions, answers, or curriculum content. We collect only short, non-identifying signals such as event type, anonymous identifiers, subject codes, counts, durations, and timestamps. We do not use this data for advertising and do not sell it.
